They are all located in Asia and each reach an altitude of over eight thousand meters in height. There are only fourteen mountains in the world that can boast such a height. Below are the ten highest of these fourteen mountains.

Mount Everest

Standing at about 29,029 feet (8,848 meters), Everest boasts the top spot for the tallest beautiful mountain in the world. It is located on the border between Sagarmatha Zone, Nepal, and Tibet, China and is part of the Himalayan Mountain Range. Although it is the tallest mountain and attracts many climbers of both advanced and limited climbing skill, it is one of the easier mountains to climb.

Manaslu

Manaslu is the eighth highest mountain in the world, and is located in the Mansiri Himal, part of the Nepalese Himalayas, in the west-central part of Nepal. Its name, which means “Mountain of the Spirit”, comes from the Sanskrit word Manasa, meaning “intellect” or “soul”. Manaslu was first climbed on May 9, 1956 by Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu, members of a Japanese expedition. It is said that “just as the British consider Everest their mountain, Manaslu has always been a Japanese mountain”

Nanga Parbat

Nanga Parbat (Naked Mountain) is the ninth highest mountain in the world that has been known to be notoriously difficult to climb. It was so named because of some of its extremely steep slopes that are bereft of vegetation and snow. Nanga Parbat is not a single peak but 20 kilometers long series of peaks and ridges culminating in an enormous ice crest of 8126 meters. It’s the western anchor of the Himalayas and westernmost of all eight thousanders.

Dhaulagiri I

Its parent mountain being K2, whose parent is Mount Everest, Dhaulagiri 1 with a grand height of 8167m (26,795 ft) is the fifth highest mountain peak in the world. It extends 120 km from the Kaligandaki River west to Bheri. Its name Dhaulagiri is a conjunction of Sanskrit words dhawala, meaning white and beautiful and giri meaning mountain. Annapurna 1 is merely 34 kms east of this mountain range. The first successful expedition to this mountain was made in 1960 by a Swiss Australian Nepali team.

Kangchenjunga

Kangchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world with an elevation of 8,586 m (28,169 ft). Mount Kanchenjunga rises about 20 km (12 mi) south of the general alignment of the Great Himalayan range, and is located on the boundary between Nepal and the Indian state of Sikkim. Kangchenjunga is the highest peak in India, and also the name of the surrounding section of the Himalayas and means “The Five Treasures of Snows”, as it contains five peaks.

Clothes Climbing boots should be the plastic and frost-proof boots, the base layer can keep warm. And you should prepare another pair for changing at night.Socks: 5-6 pairs of socks. You will just use two pairs in a day, one for walking and the other for sleeping. The pairs for walking will absorb sweat about a wine-glass capacity, but they will be dried at night in your sleeping bag and can be worn the next day.Two fleece layers: the first one will be the tight fleece tops and trousers; the second layer is one pair of thicker trousers and two thicker jackets which are all fleece.

Food and water are essential for our well-being especially while trekking in Nepal. When you climb you can burn over 6,000 calories per day meaning you need convenient and calorie dense foods to keep your energy levels up. Energy bars, biscuits, chocolate, nuts, tinned ham, beef jerky, peanut butter and lots of canned soups are just a few handy foods to fuel you up on your way toMount Everest. Make sure to include snow collection bags that could be later used to melt snow and turn it into hot beverages.

When considering where to dive, it is important to understand just how large some of the reef systems can be and how one section might connect with another. One can easily make three different dives in an area called Columbia Deep and never see the same coral. The southern section of Columbia Deep borders on what is known as Punta Sur (South Point) and offers some of the best cave diving sites available in the resort area. At Columbia Deep divers find towering coral that rises from a bottom ranging from 90 to 200 feet to within 50 feet of the surface scattered over a sandy bottom along with impressive sponges, caves diving and tunnels.

Yucatan Dive Sites

The State of Yucatan has over 3500 Cenotes with many water filled caves diving sites. Most caves are deeper than in Q.Roo in the 130 feet / 40 meter to 200 feet / 60 meter range. The caves are much shorter in penetration distance. Most of the Cenotes are located in remote areas with a steep 30 feet / 9 meter drop from the jungle floor to the water surface.Most of the Cenotes in the Yucatan are Sinkholes with no connected horizontal cave passages. Some of theses Sinkholes exceed 500 feet / 150 meters in depth.

Mexico’s Mayan Riviera, is a cenote, or cave diving sites, known as the ‘Temple of Doom’. The cenote is filled with a mixture of fresh water and salt water, and consists of a large canyon that leads off into other passageways and caverns. There are no stairs leading down to the water, so divers have to enter using a rickety ladder attached to the edge of the cave. The danger of this dive site comes from the labyrinth of passages that are easy to get lost in. Divers that have ventured outside the area lit by daylight have sometime run into problems. A passage known as ‘The Madonna’ has claimed multiple divers’ lives.
